THE HOUSE RULES

    • Check-in: After 4:00PM

    • Check-out: 10:00AM

    • No Smoking

    • No Pets

    • No Parties or Events

    • Sleeps 12 guests

    • Please read all rules below.

  • Before you settle in and get comfortable, we would like to make you aware of The Sister Bay Haus rules. Understanding and complying with the rules will make for a comfortable and fun stay for everyone! Please read each of the rules carefully in order to avoid any danger or additional charges upon check-out. Here are some of the primary rules but we ask you to read the entire document prior to your stay:

    • Please treat The Sister Bay Haus with the same respect as you would your own home. We’ve put a lot of effort making this a beautiful space and property for you to enjoy.

    • We know you’ll have lots of laughter and fun during your vacation. However, please respect our neighbors. Noise must be kept to a minimum during the Village of Sister Bay’s quiet hours, which are 10pm to 10am.

    • Parties are not allowed.

    • Smoking is not allowed anywhere on the property.

    • We have a total 4 off-street parking spaces: 2 in the garage and 2 in the driveway. Parking is not permitted on the street. Parking is not permitted on any non-driveway surfaces (e.g., grassy areas). Please see review property diagram which identifies the property lines and location of off-street parking.

    • Pets and animals are not allowed. If a service animal is required on property the animal must be kept in compliance with local regulations and be on leash when outdoors. Barking must also be kept to a minimum so as not to disrupt our neighbors.

    • Trash/Recycling Guidelines: We like to do our part for the environment and we ask that our guests do the same. There are containers for separating trash and recycling in the pull-out drawers in the kitchen island. There are also large trash and recycling containers next to the house in the driveway if the house trash/recycling needs to be taken outside. Please dispose of garbage and recycling in the proper containers.

    • Please do NOT place any trash onto the property or neighboring properties. Please place any overflow garbage and recycling in the proper bins outside the garage on the driveway. Garbage/recycling are collected from the driveway containers every week – you do not need to do anything for garbage day. The garbage is collected from the outside of the house by GFL weekly. Do not flush any sanitary products, paper towels, diapers, or any refuse other than toilet paper. We provide a trash bin in each bathroom. Any food waste should go into the trash bin, do not put in the kitchen garbage disposal or sink. There is an abundance of wildlife in the surrounding area, therefore it is important for you to keep all food and trash properly disposed in the appropriate trash receptacles with closed lids to avoid disrupting the normal food foraging patterns of our animal neighbors.

    • Fireworks are strictly prohibited.

    • Outdoor Burn Regulation: Only small, controlled campfires are permitted in our designated fire pits. Guests must never leave a fire unattended and must fully extinguish the fire before leaving the immediate area. There are water spigots and hoses can be found in the back and south sides of the house as well as buckets in the garage that can be used to extinguish the fire. Compliance with local regulations is required. Prior to starting a campfire, please call 866-966-3293 to confirm there is not a local burn ban.

    • If there is a tornado warning, please shelter-in-place in the basement and away from windows and keep yourself updated with the latest weather information via local news channels or a weather app on your mobile device.

    • Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the operation of the fire and carbon monoxide alarms in the property:

    Fire Alarms:

    • The fire alarms are located throughout the property as specified by Wisconsin State law.

    • In case of a fire, the alarm will sound continuously.

    • If you hear the fire alarm, please evacuate the premises immediately and call emergency services.

    • Do not re-enter the property until it is declared safe by the authorities.

    Carbon Monoxide Alarms:

    • The carbon monoxide alarms are situated throughout the property as specified by Wisconsin State law.

    • If the alarm detects elevated levels of carbon monoxide, it will emit a series of beeps.

    • In the event of a carbon monoxide alert, ventilate the area by opening windows and doors, and vacate the property.

    • Contact emergency services and await further instructions.

For your safety, fire extinguishers are conveniently placed under the kitchen sink and in the laundry room. In the event of a fire emergency, outdoor water spigots and hoses are available at the back and south sides of the house. Additionally, you'll find buckets in the garage that can be used to extinguish fires.

  • Barrel Sauna

We are excited to offer our private outdoor barrel sauna for guests to enjoy during their stay at The Sister Bay Haus. The sauna is an Almost Heaven Lewisburg 6–8 person barrel sauna and is available year-round. It’s a wonderful way to relax and recharge after a day exploring Door County.

    Using the Sauna

The sauna heater is controlled by the dial located on the heater inside the sauna. Turn the dial to start the heater. The sauna typically takes about 30–40 minutes to fully heat, so we recommend allowing it to preheat before entering.

You may pour small amounts of water onto the sauna rocks to create steam if desired. Please do this slowly and carefully to avoid splashing hot water.

    Sauna Etiquette

    • Please sit on a towel while using the sauna. Beach towels can be found in the linen closet in the main-level full bathroom (located through the king bedroom).

    • Do not bring food or beverages into the sauna.

    • Please do not touch the heater or rocks during operation, as they become extremely hot.

    • Children should only use the sauna with adult supervision.

    After Use

When finished, please turn the heater dial back to the off position and close the sauna door.

    Sauna Safety

Please do not use the sauna if you are feeling unwell, overly fatigued, or under the influence of alcohol.

If you have any medical conditions or concerns about sauna use, please consult your physician before use.

Use of the sauna is at your own risk. Guests are responsible for safe operation and for supervising children at all times.
